Shafak was officially established in 10-10-2013 (registration no. 27-016-129). It was founded during the early months of the Syrian Crisis in 2011. At its core, Shafak is a grassroots NGO that was formed by Syrians for Syrians, with the intent of addressing the needs of their life with dignity, equality and humanity with a focus on sustainability and autonomy.

Shafak is an impartial, independent, non-profit NGO that exists for the express purpose of providing humanitarian services to vulnerable people regardless of political or religious affiliations and on the long run to contribute to recover and rebuilding the society on freedom, justice and equality basis.

LOCATION: HQ/Gaziantep

Reports to; Head of programs

Supervision responsibility: WASH project managers  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement WASH program strategies, plans, and activities in coordination with Shafak’s vision.
  • Ensure compliance with donors’ requirements and regulations for all WASH projects.
  • Develop and manage budgets, work plans, and progress reports for the WASH program.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of WASH program staff.
  • Provide technical support to WASH program staff in planning and implementation of project activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors.
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of WASH program activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program, making necessary adjustments and improvements.
  • Manage risks and issues related to the WASH program and take appropriate action.
  • Ensure the integration of gender and inclusion in all aspects of the WASH program.
  • Prepare and submit narrative reports to the donors and senior management team.
  • Review and prepare revision requests, need assessments, and proposal developments.
  • Manage and review tendering process for all WASH activities and develop procurement plans with procurement departments.
  • Ensure the integration with all programs and provide the technical support to other programs to ensure apply WASH standards in their programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • At least two years of experience in WASH program management
  • Experience in budgeting, work planning, and progress reporting.
  • Experience in staff management and capacity building.
  • Strong technical knowledge in WASH programming and Microsoft office programs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in working with donors (INGO and UN agencies).
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles.
