General Functions:  

 

Keçiören Migrant Services Center (the Center) has two components. These are; 1) provision of counselling, referral services and capacity building activities both for the migrants, refugees and for the public officials at the local level through awareness raising activities, informative sessions and language courses as well as 2) improving social cohesion.

Under provision of counselling, referral services and capacity building component, Keçiören Migrant Services Center conducts educational and social cohesion activities towards migrant and refugee beneficiaries. In addition to the regularly conducted Turkish language courses and computer courses and other educational and social cohesion activities, Kecioren Migrant Services Center have started to conduct English Language Courses towards migrant and refugee children. The educational and social cohesion activities are conducted accordingly with the social distancing measures advised by the Turkish Authorities towards COVID-19 Pandemic and they are held in Keçiören Municipality Center and/or Public Education Centers. Within this framework, the Support Staff will work full time for the Keçiören Migrant Services Center in coordination with Keçiören Municipality management and IOM Turkey program teams. The Support Staff will be responsible for providing support to the Kecioren Migrant Services Center Staff.

 

Objective: Support the Keçiören Migrant Services Center to provide services migrants and refugees and to promote social cohesion.

 

 Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Assist the Center Staff in providing necessary interpretation services,
  2. Accompany the Center Staff in their field visits to provide necessary interpretation services,
  3. Accompany migrants and refugees in their visits to the local public institutions for necessary interpretation services, if required,
  4. Accompany the migrants and refugees during their transportation to relevant educational and social activities assigned (both during weekdays and weekends),
  5. Work closely with other counsellors and interpreters of the Center,
  6. Report challenges and progress recorded in realization of duties,
  7. Keep and save all project related documents, monthly reports and its supporting documents in file,
  8. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of Turkish and Arabic is required
  • Knowledge of English an asset
  • Experience in relevant field and in working with vulnerable groups
  • Good communicational, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Residing or willing to reside in Ankara

Languages:

 

  • Fluency in Turkish & Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
