Job Purpose:

The Social Welfare Assistant is directly responsible for follow-up and supervision of the financial, social and moral support of the sponsored person(s) in order to contribute to the improvement of his/her social conditions based on the principles of comprehensive sponsorship and in accordance with the concept of a participatory approach, as well as the humanitarian and developmental systems and standards followed in this field.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To comply with QC applicable policies, systems, and procedures.
  • To be aware of the social, cultural, political, and economic reality of the community in which he/she works, and to ensure respect for its customs, traditions, and lifestyle.
  • To prepare case studies according to the social research methodology based on the directives of the social welfare officer.
  • To submit the case studies to the social welfare officer, and provide him/her, when needed, with additional information about the cases studied.
  • To follow up the preparation of case files according to the lists of documents required by QC, and to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and validity of all submitted documents.
  • To maintain the confidentiality of information related to the cases studied, and full commitment not to use this information except within the purely professional purposes meant for it.
  • To prepare and implement the periodic work plan (weekly/monthly) under the supervision of the social welfare officer.
  • To supervise the provision of the required services for the beneficiaries who fall within the scope of his/her supervision and according to the general framework of social supervision followed and the schedule approved by the social welfare officer.
  • To supervise the beneficiaries’ receipt of their financial assistance directly, on time and in the specified amounts, and to prepare and submit statements signed by the recipients to the social welfare officer for approval. 
  • To communicate with the various concerned authorities in the field of sponsorship to serve the provision of scheduled services to the beneficiaries under his/her supervision.
  • To conduct home follow-up visit to the sponsored persons who are within the scope of his/her supervision at least once a year.
  • To prepare individual reports for beneficiaries according to the categories and the periodicity approved for the completion of these reports, and to ensure that all data contained in the reports are updated and accurate.
  • To facilitate communication with the beneficiaries or access them, whether for follow-up, monitoring or evaluation purposes.
  • To prepare quarterly achievement reports to list the various achievements that have been accomplished to provide services to the various categories of the supervision.
  • To provide the necessary information about the beneficiaries that he/she supervises upon request, whether from the QC Turkey office or from the headquarters.
  • To supervise the implementation of activities and services for the sponsored person(s) in cooperation with child and family care supervisors and social welfare assistants.
  • To report any problem that may hinder the workflow and initiate proposals for appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
  • Additional activities and tasks required by the child and family care supervisor.

 

Other Tasks:

  • Careful follow-up of the sponsored person(s), identifying their needs and contributing to meeting them.
  • To contribute to preserving, archiving, and updating the data of the sponsored person(s) and facilitate access to their data and manage it professionally.
  • Strengthening the coordination and participatory relationship with the local community.

 

Qualifications and Competencies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or any other social science fields.
  • Having at least 2 years experience with I/NGOs in social programs and field work.

 

Working Conditions:

The post is based in Ankara. Selected candidate must be living in Ankara. 

 

Language skills

  • Fluency in both oral and written Arabic is essential; Turkish & English will be of high advantage.

 

Other skills:

  • Ability to plan, evaluate and make decisions.
  • Be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently.
  • Understanding social issues and issues related to family and community development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Offices programs, especially Excel & Outlook.
  • The ability to evaluate situations and problems and their impact on workflow.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
