Job Summary

The Research Manager reports to the Business Development Manager and leads the development of all research products in line with the Building Markets Turkey program strategy. This includes managing data collection processes, overseeing assessments, and reviewing quantitative or qualitative feedback received related to the work of Building Markets and its partners.

 

The incumbent also provides technical input to relevant studies, reports, and proposals, and supports learning efforts within the organization to improve programming and operations through evidence-based feedback from clients and stakeholders.  The Research Manager provides technical input to the M&E focal point and works closely with the Communications team.

Responsibilities and Duties

 

Research Development and Implementation

 

·         Ensure process for business verification and surveying is conducted in line with Building Markets standards and produces quality data;

·         Produce monthly analysis and figures of Building Markets’ business network;

·         For new research products, lead technical inputs, including undertaking desk research, initial survey design, identifying appropriate data collection tools and tracking systems, data analysis, and statistical analysis, and report writing.

·         Oversee work of enumerators, and ensure the quality of data collection deliverables:

·         Manage data quality control processes.

 

Technical Assistance

 

·         Where research and data can improve services, provide technical advice on programming and guidance to the Business Development Manager and Chief of Party on necessary course corrections;

·         Provide analysis and input into BM donor reports.

·         Support proposal development processes;

·         Provide input to communications products and outcomes;

·         Support cleaning, reviewing and uploading data to Building Markets online platforms, as required;

·         Interview stakeholders to identify selection indicators and criteria for enterprises.

 

Learning and Advisory

 

·         Support continuous improvement efforts to update research methodologies, data collection practices, and data management systems;

·         Document best practices and refine guidance materials;

·         Provide statistics and analytics about online platforms and user engagement;

·         Provide input to improve the overall strategy and efficiency of the Turkey program;

·         Represent Building Markets at events, including trade fairs, and meetings.

 

Reporting Lines

 

Reports to Business Development Manager

Required Qualifications

·         Degree in Statistics, Analysis, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or related field;

·         Demonstrated statistical, analytical, research, and writing skills

·         Experience leading large-scale research projects in the region

·         Fluency in English and Turkish (written and spoken)

·         Experience working with multiple field teams and providing direction as guided by global policy

·         Experience working and conducting research in the private sector;

·         Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and quality

·         Excellent organizational and time-management skills

·         Strong interpersonal skills

 

Desired Qualifications

·         Interest in small and medium-sized enterprises and foreign direct investment a plus;

·         Arabic or other language skills;

·         Experience working with civil society in Turkey or similar context

·         Proficient with SPSS, STATA, or relevant language (e.g. R, Python)

 

Travel

 

  • Possible travel in-country

Compensation

 

  • Salary commensurate with experience
