Welthungerhilfe's Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz and Afrin, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Project Assistant in İstanbul.

The position is to be filled by March, 2023, with a contract duration of 7 months. There are good prospects for an extension. The position can also be filled with an unlimited contract duration if the employee shows an appropriate period of employment. Employment location will be İstanbul, Turkey. Your responsibilities,

Overall Roles:

• Support WHH Istanbul based team and partner NGOs to ensure timely implementation of protection activities and follow-up project achievements.
• Provide in-written or verbal translation for meetings, reports, presentations, etc.
• Ensures coordination across multisector response is achieved with the support and supervision of Deputy Head of Project.
• Act as logistics and communication focal point within the project team.
• Provide support to case management officer to regularly update integrated service mapping.
• Arrange and coordinate weekly/monthly meetings with project teams to monitor closely implementation and overall protection risks.
• Provide relevant project information and prepare updates in project relevant issues e.g., reporting, writing minutes of meetings, project overviews etc.
• Provide support in the area of logistics/distributions. Support logistics e.g., by collecting quotations.
• Support Head of Project, Deputy Head of Project and Project Officer and relevant team members in implementing project activities and achieving targets on time without compromising the quality.
• Support with the process of project review, design of implementation plans to identify the beneficiaries and their needs.
• Ensure overall implementation is inclusive and uses participatory approaches through community-based participation mechanisms.
• Support Project Officer and WHH field team based in Istanbul and implementing partners are reporting on time with accurate data and information.
• Work closely with the Deputy Head of Project and other Project Officer in the development of the concept notes, emergency preparedness and response plans.
• Support to and engage in establishment/implementation of accountability mechanisms to ensure feedback and complaints are duly captured into program adaptations and improvement.
• Ensure that PSEA and complaint/feedback mechanism is known by field staff and disseminated to beneficiaries through community-based and participatory approaches.
• Carry out periodic visits to monitor activities implemented by the partners.​

Your profile,

Required Qualifications:     

Education: Bachelor’s degree, in Social Science, development studies or relevant technical field of study.

Work Experience:

Minimum two years professional experience in a non-profit humanitarian organization.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Objective analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly written skills (presenting complex information coherently and succinctly).
• Ability to coordinate complex projects, including the ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Basic gender and protection concepts.
• Working with communication materials and knowledge products.
• Proven knowledge of computerized systems; high degree of computer literacy and word processing and Excel skills.
• Knowledge of file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
• Experience in accountability to affected population, protection mainstreaming and PSEA.

 Social Skills;

         Ability to work in a team.

  Language Skills:

         Fluency in English and Turkish is required.

Desired Qualifications:

2 years of experience in implementing protection programs a non-profit organization.

Language Skills:

Working knowledge of Arabic and/or Kurdish is advantageous.
