General Functions:

Under the overall supervision of the Protection and Resilience Officer and direct supervision of the Project Field Coordinator, and, in collaboration with relevant units, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for below:

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Project Field Coordinator in the efforts to reach affected populations residing far away from the Migrant and Community Centre (MMCC) location.
  2. Work closely with the MMCC team in order to identify, assess and refer cases with the vulnerabilities both to IOM’s units and other stakeholders.
  3. Undertake the planning, implementation and reporting of visits, activities as well as supporting the Project Assistant for logistics and procurement of activity materials in a timely manner.
  4. Assist in preparing materials needed for family support sessions, counselling services, recreational and rights-based activities for children, community mobilization, awareness sessions and informal education activities.

  6. Support the Project Assistant for tracking the inventory of activity materials, counting of materials at the MMCC depots.
  7. Use the data portal, MS Teams channels and other sorts of software and hardware archiving tools of IOM for data collection and storage properly; and report weekly and monthly basis in a timely manner.
  8. Provide relevant information about IOM Accountability mechanisms and consent forms during events and distributions.
  9. Support socio-relational and cultural activities when/if needed.
  10. Facilitate the translations when needed during calls and activities.
  11. Operate in a culturally sensitive manner while keeping contact with beneficiaries and provide accurate information about IOM.

 

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • University degree in sociology, political science, literature and language studies, social services or in a related field from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or;
  • Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in working in a multicultural environment;
  • Experience in working in humanitarian field,
  • Experience in working out-of-office locations, agricultural tent areas, temporary settlements
  • Knowledge of using address mapping tools for distributions;
  • Knowledge of how to communicate with vulnerable migrant community members.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in Turkish and Arabic is required.
  • Working knowledge of Farsi, English or/and Kurdish is advantageous.

In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
