Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Turkey since August 2013 and currently looking for 6 (SIX) qualified Programme Assistant – Education (National Post). This offer is conditional on Concern receiving all necessary government permits and approvals to begin the project.

Job Purpose: The Programme Assistant – Education is responsible for efficiently and effectively supporting the implementation of the Building Tomorrow Programme in Turkey in line with Concern’s organizational strategies, policies and procedures as well as donors’ procedures and regulations. The jobholder will conduct awareness works and guidance for increasing schooling and enrolment rate among the refugee communities in the designated Provinces.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Programme Implementation

  • Conduct daily works of the education component of the programme as guided by Senior Education Officer and Education Officer
  • Work closely with designated staff of education facilities
  • Follow guidance of Senior Education Officer and Education Officer to promote education opportunities provided by the Building Tomorrow Programme
  • Conduct outreach to families and communities
  • Identification and follow-up with households receiving cash incentives
  • Support the planning and implementation of Teacher Professional Development activities in the designated province
  • Document works, progress, learning and report on project activities
  • Regularly follow school attendance in close cooperation with school management and PNED personnel
  • Identify challenges in enrolment and attendance, and develop solutions in consultation with Senior Programme Officer and Education Officer
  • Follow standard operating procedures for the incentive scheme
  • Work closely with logistics to support procurement of all teaching and learning materials, recreational items and library books
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Education Officer and Area Manager

Person Specification

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant diploma
  • Two years’ experience in a similar position in a NGO focusing on education and/or child protection
  • Good command of Arabic
  • Computer literate with good MS Office skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to speak with Government staff respectfully
  • Experience and knowledge of social cohesion
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Turkish language skills
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • High integrity and demonstrated ability to follow standards and policies
  • Ability to work in a systematic and organized manner
