CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3- the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

This is a key role in the Türkiye Country Office Advocacy, Communications, Campaigns, and Media Team. The Multimedia Coordinator will produce high quality multimedia content, including video, photographs, and oversee graphic design in support of the country advocacy and program strategy on the humanitarian situation in Türkiye. The multimedia coordinator will produce content to be used in all Save the Children media, social media channels, fundraising campaigns, websites, etc.

Working closely with child safeguarding and child protection colleagues, ensure that all children involved in our communications, advocacy, and media work are protected from potential mental and physical harm, and potential repercussions from their involvement in our communications, advocacy, and media work.  .

 SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to: Advocacy, Communications, and Media Manager – Türkiye Country Office 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Technical role:

  • Lead on the development and production of high-quality materials for a variety of differing international needs across Save the Children international
  • Ensure content is processed and shared using Content Hub
  • Edit and produce content, and edit video into short films
  • Edit, post-produce and produce professional quality photo stories for use in a variety of platforms including for fundraising and media purposes
  • Proactively suggest ways to creatively report to donors on Save the Children’s emergency work by gathering and tailoring audio-visual materials.
  • Support and train Save the Children staff to improve content gathering skills, processing and use of Content Hub
  • Co-ordinate with, and provide multi-media content to, Save the Children International members in order for them to communicate, advocate and fundraise effectively
  • Action innovative concepts and wider use for social media

General:

  • Provide timely – and sensitively gathered – content in the immediate aftermath or midst of an emergency / disaster. Deliver a range of photo, broll and detailed case studies that capture children and families who are affected and being supported by Save the Children.
  • Produce or provide ad-hoc updates for specific donor or other needs as requestd via SCI – e.g. joining donor webinars, recording tailored vlogs etc
  • Deliver results in line with the terms of reference agreed in advance – to do this in a way which maintains the reputation of Save the Children.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Help be responsible for the security of all staff. Ensure that the security, health and well-being of staff are ensured and staff management and other processes and policies and systems reflect SC 's principles of equity and fairness.
  • Ensure all content meets safeguarding guidelines and that all content is processed on Content Hub
  • Ensure content shared within response team, country office and/or regional office, as well as internationally.
  • To perform such other responsibilities as agreed with your line management.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential :

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and editing skills
  • Strong track record in collecting and producing audio visual (still photography and film) materials for a humanitarian organisation or media outlet
  • Significant experience of working overseas in humanitarian programmes
  • Substantial experience of producing materials within an emergency response context or a fragile state
  • Substantial experience of working in remote field bases with Iimited infrastructure
  • Excellent understanding of international audiences and their varying visual communication needs
  • Experience of using professional DV camera, sound equipment, lighting set ups, SLR cameras and video footage using professional editing software.
  • Experience of working with TV broadcasters, and understanding of their resource needs.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Experience transcribing audio into English, Turkish or Arabic
  • Experience of training and capacity building staff
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
  • Experience working sensitively with vulnerable groups
  • Fluency in English and Turkish language.

Desirable:

  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in humanitarian contexts
  • Language skills in Arabic

Position holder may be based anywhere in Turkiye, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
