JOB ADVERTISEMENT – MEAL Assistant

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children is seeking job applicants for a MEAL Assistant post in Gaziantep to support the earthquake response. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant will report to the MEAL Coordinator whilst providing support to various project and s/he will work closely with the Project Managers, MEAL team, as well as other project staff in the implementation sites. The MEAL Assistant’s responsibilities include but not limited to conducting frequent on-site monitoring, maintaining the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM), conducting data collection (qualitative and quantitative), entry, and analysis, and translation support where relevant.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
The MEAL Assistant will be responsible for the following:
Data collection, analysis and use:
- Conduct frequent monitoring visits to project activities, report back via relevant reporting templates.
- As per scheduled activities, conduct or assist community visits, focus group discussions with beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries to receive feedback on SC programmes and/or partners’.
- Review incoming data for cleanness, completeness and consistency, and improve data collection tools as necessary.
- Take part in various assessments at different capacities, i.e. data collection, data entry, analysis, translation, facilitation.
Information management systems:
- Prepare dashboards to present the CFM data in a user friendly manner
- Compilation of relevant reports, plans and information/supporting documents and sharing with PDQ and program teams as needed.
- Maintains security and confidentiality of data.
Reporting:
- Coordinate with MEAL staff to review weekly/monthly data submissions, as well as project achievements against targets.
- Proactively engage programme teams to compile information and supporting documents concerning the activities.
- Review monthly data and highlighting concerns where relevant
- Prepare field visit reports following monitoring and or additional assessments where relevant.
Accountability:
- Maintain the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM).
- Support all efforts for promoting a high level of beneficiary accountability and support the implementation of the complaints and feedback mechanisms in line with the relevant frameworks/SoPs.
- Respond to the hotline, categorize the complaint, and follow up on the complaint as required.
- Support programming and field staff to ensure that projects are carried out with participation from all affected communities (including children) and that information is shared with affected communities.
- Ensuring that information from feedback is analysed and disseminated, managing referrals, and helping to produce informational materials for beneficiaries.
General:
- Maintain safety and confidentially of the documents/system and their contents.
- Maintain filing system for data in soft and hard copies.
- Provide translation and interpretation support where relevant.
- Actively contribute to making the project safe for children and gender sensitive (and to the extent gender transformative) in collaboration with SC’s Gender Focal Point at all times.
- Ensure that the MEAL system in place is in line with SCI standards, donor requirements and humanitarian programming standards.
- Perform other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE. SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- 1 year of professional experience in humanitarian sector.
- Familiarity/training/experience in MEAL systems.
- BSc/BA/BEng in Social Sciences, Computer Sciences, Statistics or related field.
- Working knowledge in data collection, analysis, and information/database management.
- Fluent in Turkish (speaking, understanding, reading, and writing).
Desirable:
- English, and/or Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in humanitarian programmes in education and protection sectors.
- Familiarity with Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Kahramanmaraş contexts.
- Working knowledge of PowerBI or similar software.
- Experience in working with children and adolescents, and particularly refugees.
- Familiarity in qualitative data collection through focus group discussions and key informant interviews via child friendly methodologies
Position holder will be based in Gaziantep, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
