JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Education Coordinator

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The Education Coordinator will be the principal representative of the project and have leadership responsibility for the overall management of the assigned award, which will be implemented in coordination with public institutions. The project aims to develop and/or adapt content/modules for teacher professional development programs. The Education Coordinator is expected to provide strategic, operational and technical leadership to successful implementation of high quality, in coordination with other stakeholders. The Education Coordinator will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely submission of all deliverables, including work plans, budget forecasts, performance monitoring plans, and reports as required. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the activities of any sub-recipient partners under the agreement in coordination with the project team. S/he will be expected to conduct regular visits to field visits as required.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Programme Management

  • Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of all aspects of the project, based on actual needs and response analysis.
  • Ensure timely implementation of the project in close collaboration with Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) Department, partner(s) and relevant departments (e.g. finance, supply chain).
  • Coordinate regular and on time monitoring and monthly reporting on all project management aspects including, work-plan progress and updating, IPTT data collection and analysis and monitoring of indicators, capacity building plans). Ensure that project delivery happens in strict adherence to security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with and adherence to Save the Children and donor rules and regulations.
  • Maintain regular contact with Save the Children Technical Specialists to ensure donor needs are adhered to and technical design and implementation is in line with Save the Children’s Global strategic direction and quality standards, as well as global research, standards and best practice.
  • Support producing high quality reports within agreed reporting schedules.
  • Ensure that MEAL tools, including quality benchmarks, are systematically implemented and used by project staff and partner(s), in cooperation with the PDQ team.
  • Support baseline and end line surveys, regular monitoring, review and evaluation, in cooperation with the PDQ team, to ensure quality and evidence-building.
  • Ensure that all actions on the best interest of the child, are gender-sensitive and implemented in a manner that enhances the sense of dignity, participation and psychosocial wellbeing of children, youth and families.
  • Ensure that established international, national and inter-agency standards and guidelines are followed.
  • Ensure that Child Safeguarding Policy is understood by staff and partner(s) within the program and that it is integrated into all aspects of the team’s work.
  • Ensure that quality standards, research and global good practise is embedded in the project. Play an active role in gathering of learnings during the project, to feed into better implementation and any new project design.
  • Ensure that Common Approaches (CAs)[1] are systematically implemented and used by project staff in a high-quality manner.
  • Ensure that the developed and/or adapted content is of high quality and reflects the context and the needs of the target group.

 

Partner and Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with partner(s) in the areas of responsibility in the delivery of the project’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensure and sustain an effective coordination and close collaboration with partners to ensure that work plans, performance monitoring plans and reports are timely produced and submitted, in compliance with internal SC and donor requirements.
  • Oversee the overall governance of the project including but not limited to ensuring timely and effective coordination meetings, stakeholder meetings, as well as steering committee meetings.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders to increase the project’s visibility and facilitate the scaling up of the project’s interventions.
  • Liaise with relevant departments at government offices, and constituents to ensure the smooth implementation of activities and solve problems.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of education (preferably education-focused services for/with teachers).
  • Experience in project management (e.g. monitoring, reporting) and preferably teacher professional development programming.
  • Previous experience in working in coordination with government departments and local authorities (preferably previous working experience with MoNE).
  • A minimum of education in BSc/BA/BEng level preferably in Educational Sciences, but other fields such as Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar can also be relevant, or equivalent field experience.
  • Knowledge about development/adaptation and provision of teacher professional development programs.
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability.
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Able to work independently as well as in team to ensure timely results of high quality.
  • Capacity and willingness to be flexible in difficult working circumstances.
  • Able to travel to field sites where necessary.
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of Save the Children, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English and Turkish, with experience in working with multicultural teams

Desirable

  • Knowledge and/or previous experience in providing trainings or capacity building programs on education-related topics including but not limited to the following: Teaching in Crisis Contexts (TiCC), inclusive education, classroom and student behaviour management, social emotional learning, psychosocial support, teacher well-being, and peer-to-peer support programming.
  • Postgraduate level qualification in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, or Development Studies.

Position holder will be based in Istanbul or Ankara, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of application.
