Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Turkey since August 2013 and currently looking for a qualified Communication and Media Officer (National Position) based in Sanliurfa.

Job Identification

Job Purpose:

To support programme staff to promote and disseminate information relating to Concern’s Turkey Programme in order to raise Concern’s profile, donor visibility, learning and fundraising efforts. To produce IEC (information, education, communication) materials for sharing with Concern programme participants and other relevant stakeholders in Turkey.

The jobholder will be performing her/his responsibility in line with Concern’s organizational strategies, policies and procedures for visibility and communications. The jobholder will be responsible for collection of information from relevant staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare communication and visibility plans in order to raise Concern’s profile, donor visibility, learning and fundraising efforts
  • Manage Concern’s social media accounts, monitor the feedbacks of audience and provide necessary responses based on Concern communication procedures
  • Produce IEC materials for sharing programme information with programme participants.
  • Produce audio/visual content that promotes the work done by Concern and by Concern partners and the impact of Concern Turkey work on programme participants.
  • Develop/coordinate development of high-quality audio-visual content which relevant and interesting to a variety of external and internal audiences, online and offline.
  • Travel to programme implementation areas to collect and create visibility and communication content e.g. photos, videos, audio
  • Assist in developing plans and implementation for donor specific visibility requirements, as per donor visibility standards
  • Train programme staff and partners in basic communications skills (story gathering, case studies, photography, videography etc.).
  • Develop appropriate process, systems, storage and archiving for in country communications materials whether written or visual.
  • Ensure all documentation and communications are in line with the Concern’s communication guidelines for images, messages, print, electronic or social media.

Other:

  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct, and to be committed to provide a safe working environment
  • Any other duties as assigned relevant to communication and visibility

Person Specification:

Minimum Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree preferably in communication, graphics design or related fields
  • Two years’  of experience in the humanitarian sector related to communication including producing written and visual contents, and publication designing
  • One year experience of managing social media pages of a humanitarian organization
  • High quality communications skills in English

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Knowledge of Turkish and European personal data protection regulations
  • Professional working knowledge and skills on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Primer, Adobe Illustrator,  Adobe InDesign and CorelDraw
  • Arabic and/or Turkish language skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to build good relations both internally and externally
  • Work independently and take initiative
  • Commitment to beneficiary accountability and humanitarian principles
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct
