Job Summary

Reporting to the FSL Project Officer and working in collaboration with other FSL and distribution team members. The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Project Assistant will be responsible for implementing FSL activities under the EQ response program. The FSL Project Assistant will ensure that agreed procedures are followed and accountability mechanisms are implemented to ensure high quality programming and continually improve the support to EQ affected persons. 

 

Responsibilities and Tasks  

Describe the major responsibilities, principal tasks, competencies and end results for which the position is accountable (limit responsibilities to five). Include WHY it is done and the impact to the organization.  List the responsibilities in the order of importance and state the percentage of time the employee spends on each responsibility during a typical year. 

Employees who supervise other regular employees on a continuous basis should have Staff Management as the number one Job Responsibility.  Full supervision includes: performance management, hiring, terminating, developing and coaching the employee in the course of his/her duties.  The general rule of thumb for percentage of time for management of others is 5% per direct report.  Example: If a supervisor has six direct reports then at least 30% of his/her job should be allocated to supervising those employees. 

 

Job Responsibility #1: Activity planning and implementation 

  • Carry out registration and distribution activities in the field. 

  • Support the Project Team in communication with the refugee and/or host community members. 

  • Participate in regular meetings relating to activities.  

  • Support the FSL Officer with adequate and accurate records of information by undertaking regular data entry work as required. 

  • Collecting the information in relation to MEL activities upon need 

  • Ensure that all FSL project beneficiaries have access to accurate information about CARE’s activities and access to Helpline.  

  • Follow up on all incoming referred cases via internal and external referral mechanisms. 

  • Undertake verbal and written translation tasks as required.  

Job Responsibility #2: Program Quality and Information Management 

  • Provide feedback from project’s participants and community leaders. 

  • Ensure the complaints are received by CARE properly and beneficiaries are informed and report on this to and Project Officer. 

  • Ensure that all program activities are implemented in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures and using agreed tools. 

  • Ensure that feedback received from community members is used to continually improve activities and that activities are meeting the needs of the communities. 

  • Follow-up with the activities attendance sheets, scanning them and entering data to excel sheets/online databases.  

  • Undertake documentation work and support the team as required. 

Job Responsibility #3 Other Responsibilities as assigned 

  • The FSL Project Assistant will be expected to support the FSL Project Officer as needed on programmatic issues related to the earthquake response but beyond the deliverables outlined above. 

Qualifications (Know-How) 

Education/Training 

Required 

  • Educational background in agriculture engineering, economics, Business Administration, Finance Social Science, Humanities, or any field related to Food security and agriculture. 

 

Experience 

Required 

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience of working with humanitarian organizations in Turkey in a staff or volunteer capacity, preferably with refugee populations. 
  • Experience working in a community-based role. 
  • Proven commitment and compliance with the humanitarian principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality as well as Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse  
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including Hosting Communities, IDPs populations, local authorities, humanitarian agencies, etc.  

Desired 

  • Experience in emergency response interventions, and implementation of projects aimed at preserving agriculture production and livestock, such as Agriculture and livestock support schemes. 

Technical Skills 

Required 

  • Familiarity with projects involving implementation across multiple locations, and a willingness for frequent travel within project implementation areas. 
  • Adequate knowledge of vulnerability assessment/beneficiary selection processes. 
  • Knowledge of using electronic data collection tools (for example KOBO toolbox, Monkey Survey, google forums, ODK …. etc.) 
  • Fluent spoken and written Turkish 
  • Good spoken and written English 
  • Gender awareness and a commitment to gender equality. 
  • Good computer skills, especially in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel. 


Desired 

Arabic language skills are highly desired.
