CARE International in Turkey, together with its partners, provides humanitarian assistance to people affected by the Syrian crisis, both in Syria and Turkey.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the overall supervision of the Protection Legal Counsellor (PLC) and working in collaboration with other CARE team members, the position holder will be supporting PLC in Şanlıurfa province (prioritizing Haliliye, Eyyübiye, and Birecik districts).

 

General Functions

  • Provide feedback to PLC on the tasks given.
  • Ensure that any complaints received from project’s participants and stakeholders are reported to PLC in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all program activities are implemented in accordance with agreed legal standard operating procedures and using appropriate means and tools available through CARE resources.
  • General Project Administration: support the daily administrative workflow in the legal response. This includes providing basic administrative support, updating program documents, scheduling meetings with clients, and completing forms.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists PLC during one-to-one counselling sessions conducted with project’s participants via phone and at each Information Protection Space, IPS through translating Arabic/Turkish verbal cases into Turkish/Arabic.
  • Assist PLC by means of reaching out project’s participants, arranging appointments via phone according to PLC guidance.
  • Accompany PLC to the Courts, PDMMs, Data Verification Centres, Directorates of Registration/Population Affairs, MoFLSS City Directorates, or any other official authorities to where PLC accompanies the project’s participants in order to ensure communication in Turkish and Arabic languages.
  • Assist PLC during awareness-raising sessions by way of translating sessions from Turkish/Arabic into Arabic/Turkish.
  • Assist PLC during assessment process of project’s participants, when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Fluent spoken in Arabic and Turkish
  • A team player, eager to learn new skills
  • Strong planning and communication skills
  • Prior experience of working with humanitarian organizations in Turkey in a staff or volunteer capacity, preferably with refugee populations
  • Good documentation skills
  • Willingness to work in the field
  • Free to travel to the duty stations

Desired

  • Ability of spoken and written English
  • Prior experience of working in a non-governmental organization (NGO)
  • Experience working in a community-based role
  • Experience in data collection, coding & compilation
  • Very good computer skills, especially in MS Word and MS Excel

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Duty station:  Şanlıurfa province, including travel to central and rural districts.

Contract length: six months with the possibility of extension, dependent on performance.
