SCI employ approximately 25,000 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection. CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 –  The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The purpose of this post is to support the Award Management team in the planning, securing and managing of both development and humanitarian awards. The position involves supporting award information management and compliance with systems and processes. The Awards intern will be supporting Awards assistant to oversee SCI’s sub grants portfolio in Turkey, including tracking the progress of existing sub-grants with the help of AMS providing support from initial partner engagement to closeout.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and to be able to adjust to different working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

Developing self and others

  • Work with other team members to support team activities
  • Build relationships with members of other teams i.e. finance and operations
  • Involvement in capacity building to build skills in Award management

Communicating with impact, negotiation and coordination

  • Input into high quality ‘donor ready’ reports as designated by the Award assistant

 

Compliance (systems, processes, donor)

  • Understanding of SCI processes and other key donor requirements and adherence to these
  • Understanding of the Award Management System (AMS) and reporting functions, and support to ensure AMS is up to date to drive data quality for partners’ record.
  • Support Awards assistant in the legal vetting process of implementing Partners through AMS.
  • Assist drafting SGAs of partners assigned by Awards assistant, while ensuring that appropriate annexes are included.
  • Support to following up partner sub grant close-out, helping project managers to ensure all tasks are completed as per the close-out checklist and that all required close-out documentations are kept on file.

 

Portfolio management and strategy

  • Assist the awards assistant on following up on actions derived from AMS reports that involve other departments

 

Donor Reporting

  • Sending regular updates to the project managers and relevant departments regarding the reporting schedule for each Award to ensure on-time submission of the donor reports
  • Support with following up on feedback received during the internal report review cycle

 

Monitoring and analysis

  • Support Awards assistant in organizing awards review meeting with the Project Manager and relevant departments on a monthly basis
  • Maintain records of the Awards Review Meetings (including presentations, BvAs, and meeting minutes)
  • Participate in the sub-grant review meetings with the implementing partners
  • Participate in OPS meetings and represent the department if needed

 

Proposal Development

  • Assist AM team with the proposal development process through development of Joint Opportunity Risk Table, Award Risk Assessment through liaising with other departments (e.g. Finance, Risk and Compliance, Procurement)
  • Assist with the desk review when needed, and participate in the proposal development workshops

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Turkish nationality is a requirement for this position. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economy and other relevant departments.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills in English and Turkish
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and problem solving skills to address these
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity
