For OXFAM KEDV’s emergency earthquake response, we are looking for an Architect in Gaziantep, Hatay and Kahramanmaraş.

Job Purpose

• This position will collaborate with engineers, architect interns and community mobilisers Social architect is expected provide women and girls perception in architecture and design of WASH and technical components of the programme. The focus will be in shelter/container and women/children centres to ensure feminist posture and enabling women and girls’ engagement in design and planning of support/assistances and their resilience. This position is seen as start of social architect approach- insiating platform to enable culture of feminist design by women and community.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with shelter cluster TWiGs for Oxfam-KEDV led container upgrading pilot project - learn and apply architect relevant issues in to Oxfam KEDV activities
• Work with PHE tech units and PHP-Community engagement team to integrate feminist architecture in to wash and technical work.
•  Work with women and girls in container both in formal camps and in rural areas and identify challenges they face living in container and jointly identify solutions.
• Take part in assessment, feasibility study and surveys related women & girls space- empowering subjects.
• Collaboration with architecture faculty of local universities and Oxfam-KEDV internship shelter/container upgrading to improve lives of women and girl.
• Coordinate and collaborate with architect platform (architect for all) and promote and inclusion in to programming.
• Monitor and supervise installation, care & maintenance of WCC infrastructure, container, social space, women’s workshop.
• Support and participate in assessment, detailed drawing, specs, BoQ for shelter that may include repairing of container, upgrading tents, living space as directed by tech officer.
• Implementation and supervision of shelter/housing related activities as delegated by line manager.
• Supervise and monitor implementation of winterisation and summarisation activities

Skills and Competence:

• · University degree in Architecture
• · Excellent command of Turkish, English is desirable
• · Preferably experience design software-CAD and data processing
• · Ability to work well under pressure and in responding to changing needs
• · Diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills
• · Excellent communication and cross-cultural management skills
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles and standards of programme quality in emergencies
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to create effective teams and work with external actors in a range of contexts
• Experience of designing and implementing gendered humanitarian interventions
• Ability to work cooperatively in a cross-cultural setting with a number of long-distance working relationships across time zones
• Experience in fast-paced and difficult emergency contexts and a sound understanding of managing people complexities and the cultural context of Turkiye
• Strong management, project planning, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
